It's what they threatened to do, and they did it. Gay, lesbian and bi-sexual families laid siege to the White House, demanding tickets to the Annual Easter Egg Roll, which takes place on Monday.

They got the tickets. The White House actually gave these people tickets to interact with children on the White House lawn!

The fact that they got the tickets wasn't good enough for them, though. Not this crowd. They wanted a specific kind of ticket, and since they didn't get it, they're raising hell.

All of those who spent hours waiting in line got tickets.

But members of the Family Pride Coalition said they received some of the first timed-entry tickets distributed, but they are for noon, well after the 8 a.m. start. Members of the coalition believe it was an effort to keep them away from the high-profile opening of the event with first lady Laura Bush.

The White House said a large contingent of youth volunteers were given tickets for the opening, but all families are welcome to attend.

Critics of the gay and lesbian initiative said it's inappropriate to use a children's event to make a political statement.

However, Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of the Family Pride Coalition said it's only being made political by people "pushing an agenda of discrimination."

The White House said all families are welcome to attend the Easter Monday event.
Members of the coalition believe it was an effort to keep them away from the high-profile opening of the event with first lady Laura Bush.

Well, duh! What did they expect? You think First Lady Laura Bush should have to pollute her beautiful mind with the thought of what those people do when they're together? I wouldn't let them in at all, but the White House, in a definate show of Compassionate Conservatism, decided to love the sinner and hate the sin. That's why they got the tickets! So what, if they don't get to roll their eggs before noon? So what?

Quit whining!

Weep, America. Tom DeLay (R-Tex.), a primary architect of the Republican majority who became one of the most powerful and feared leaders in Washington, told House allies last night that he will give up his seat rather than face a reelection fight that appears increasingly unwinnable.

The decision came three days after Tony C. Rudy, his former deputy chief of staff, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and corruption charges, telling federal prosecutors of a criminal enterprise being run out of DeLay's leadership offices. Rudy's plea agreement did not implicate DeLay in any illegal activities, but by placing the influence-buying efforts of disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff directly in DeLay's operation, the former aide may have made an already difficult reelection bid all but out of reach.

DeLay, who will turn 59 on Saturday, did not say precisely when he would step down, but under Texas law he must either die, be convicted of a felony, or move out of his district to be removed from the November ballot. DeLay told Time magazine that he is likely to change his official residence from Sugar Land, Tex., to Alexandria by the end of May. He said he informed President Bush of his decision yesterday afternoon.

"This had become a referendum on me," he told Time in an article posted on the magazine's Web site last night. "So it's better for me to step aside and let it be a referendum on ideas, Republican values and what's important for this district."
The disgusting liberals (yes, YOU, Ronnie Earle!!!) are even driving him out of his beloved Texas!

If there is another attack on America, we know who to blame, liberals. We now look to the Maryland Appeals Court to restore some sanity to the judicial process and overturn yesterday's court decision for if it is upheld will wreak havoc on our society, redefining the institution of marriage and denying children a mother or a father.

"This is emblematic of a concentrated effort across the country to cause social upheaval by abusing our court system. Groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union, who represented the plaintiffs, have also been instrumental in similar suits across the country.

"This ruling will bolster efforts in Congress to vote on and pass a Marriage Protection Amendment. Many states, including Maryland and neighboring Virginia, are moving forward to place marriage protection amendments on state ballots. This judicial assault reinforces the need to fully protect marriage before the next judicial attack on society's most basic institution."
We are appalled by the threat to American families embodied in this hedonistic ruling. The "if it feels good, do it" mentality has no business in American courtrooms. If men have the right to marry men and women have the right to marry women, then the traditional marriages of men and women have absolutely no meaning. Murdock ruled in favor of 19 homosexual men and women who claimed in a lawsuit that the same-sex marriage ban violates equal rights and due process provisions of Maryland's constitution.

"After much study and serious reflection," wrote Murdock in Friday's ruling, "this court holds that Maryland's statutory prohibition against same-sex marriage cannot withstand this constitutional challenge."

She said the law violates the Maryland Declaration of Rights because it discriminates against a "suspect class" based on gender. She said the law "is not narrowly tailored to serve any compelling governmental interests."
What about families, judge? Aren't they a "compelling interest?" What about the church? Isn't it a compelling interest? What about values? If this is a Christian nation, which it is, then it is up to the judges to enforce pro-family laws, not throw them out.

How can Maryland say that it values families when marriage itself is devalued?

Thankfully, the state is appealing this ruling, which amounts to nothing more than communist tyranny. Bush is winning the War on Terror. Osama Bin Laden is weakened and on the run.

Despite his threats against the United States and the Europeans (old and new), what truley sticks out about his taped message Thursday is this:

"We don't mind offering you a long-term truce on fair conditions that we adhere to. We are a nation that God has forbidden to lie and cheat. So both sides can enjoy security and stability under this truce so we can build Iraq and Afghanistan, which have been destroyed in this war."
Nobody who thinks he can win would offer his enemy a truce.

The New York Sun agrees, writing:

It would be nice to think that this would present an opportunity for the antiwar crowd to reconsider its approach. For it is clear that Al Qaeda has underestimated not only the president but also the American people. Far from bin Laden's boasts that his holy warriors are succeeding, his offer of truce is an act of desperation. After all the terror Al Qaeda has sought to inflict in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has been unable to prevent successive and successful elections and the writing of constitutions.

Mr. President, victory is yours. The National Review? The Free Republic? RNC Talking Points?

No, it's the liberal's own New York Times.

After the longest independent counsel investigation in history, the prosecutor in the case of former Housing Secretary Henry G. Cisneros is finally closing his operation with a scathing report accusing Clinton administration officials of thwarting an inquiry into whether Mr. Cisneros evaded paying income taxes.

The legal inquiry by the prosecutor, David M. Barrett, lasted more than a decade, consumed some $21 million and came to be a symbol of the flawed effort to prosecute high-level corruption through the use of independent prosecutors.

Mr. Barrett began his investigation with the narrower issue of whether Mr. Cisneros lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation when he was being considered for the cabinet position. He ended his inquiry accusing the Clinton administration of a possible cover-up.

His report says Justice Department officials refused to grant him the broad jurisdiction he wanted; for example, Attorney General Janet Reno said he could look at only one tax year. And after Internal Revenue Service officials in Washington took a Cisneros investigation out of the hands of district-level officials in Texas, the agency deemed the evidence too weak to merit a criminal inquiry, a conclusion strongly disputed by one Texas investigator.

Former officials of the Justice Department and the I.R.S. dismissed Mr. Barrett's conclusions in appendices attached to the report, saying the findings were the product of an inquiry that was incompetently managed from the start.

After being indicted on 18 felony counts, Mr. Cisneros pleaded guilty in 1999 to a misdemeanor charge of lying to investigators. He was later pardoned by President Bill Clinton.
This is all we need to know about the liberals who are trying to investigate Republicans about Abramoff. Nice. They can't think of a better use of their time than to traumatize innocent children by bringing Fire Island to Easter Sunday.

The Weekly Standard sounds the alarm:

FOR OVER A HUNDRED YEARS children have gathered on the South Lawn of the White House on the Monday after Easter to roll Easter eggs across the yard and meet the Easter Bunny. Seemingly few (if any) Washingtonians have ever tried to exploit the annual White House Easter Egg Roll for political purposes. Until now. A church-based homosexual rights group is planning to crash the event with a "family visibility action" to spotlight their non-traditional families.

"On April 17, 2006, when the White House lawn is opened to families for the Annual Easter Egg Roll, imagine if the first 1,000 families onto the lawn were LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] families," enthused a January 4 email alert from Soulforce. Once America sees the White House lawn awash in LGBT families, "there will be no going back," Soulforce promised.

Soulforce is the political organizing tool of self-described "militant gay activist" Mel White, the former Jerry Falwell speech writer who discovered his gayness and became a clergyman in the predominantly homosexual Metropolitan Community Churches.

White and his supporters routinely show up at church conventions and other events to protest, perform acts of civil disobedience and demand that denominations change their teachings about homosexuality. They apply the "soul force" of principles from Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi to the "struggle for justice for sexual minorities."

According to Soulforce, "LGBT" participants are being urged to gather at the White House gate the night before so as to be the
first to enter the next morning. Volunteers will stand in line for "LGBT" parents who cannot do it themselves.
How silly of these people. They are trying to erase the truth by attacking the Christian symbol of the Easter Egg. If God wanted gay people to have families, he wouldn't have made them gay. Think about it.

Thanks to the 'Standard for bringing to light this appalling threat to American Christian family values.

Liberals are fear-mongering over "unitarian executive" power for Bush

Don't let the liberals spread any more fear and hate over Judge Alito's belief in Unitarian Executive powers for President Bush. There is nothing to fear.

The Family Research Council's Tony Perkins explains why:

That Scary, Scary Unitary Theory of the Executive

During three days of testimony by Samuel Alito, Senate Judiciary Committee liberals repeatedly hammered the judge with hostile questions about his support for the "unitary theory of the executive." The senators charged that Judge Alito's acceptance of this doctrine would render him too deferential to the President in civil liberties cases. Such implications are false. The "unitary theory of the executive" is a complex-sounding term that actually describes a simple concept. The Constitution vests "the executive Power" of the United States "in a President..." Thus, Judge Alito and many serious scholars believe that the power to control the executive branch of the United States government resides solely in the President of the U.S. Put another way, the President, they believe, is empowered to dismiss all federal employees who exercise executive power. French philosopher Baron de Montesquieu would surely have recognized the concept. In fact, he probably invented it. The Founding Fathers all looked to Montesquieu's Spirit of the Laws when they framed our government. Why should liberals find that so alarming? After all, it's French, isn't it?
God bless you, Tony Perkins. Thank you for that truth to help us fight the liberal lies.

MLK and the RNC: Letting Freedom Ring

Ken Mehlman reminds us why the Party of Lincoln has so much more to offer black people than the Democrat Party does:

Under this President's leadership, we have made great strides towards fulfilling the promise of opportunity for every American. Thanks to the President's bold education reforms, we have narrowed the achievement gap between white and African American children. The homeownership rate among African Americans is near record highs, and African Americans are starting new businesses at a rate double the national average. And President Bush is leading the way in reforming Social Security and Medicare so that those who most rely on these programs have more choices and better benefits.

In this President's Administration and at the highest levels of our party, African Americans are leading the way. We are proud to be the party of Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Alphonso Jackson and Rod Paige. Leaders like Michael Steele from my native Maryland make me proud to be a Republican - and Michael is joined by a growing number of African American candidates and officeholders in our Republican family.

We have come a long way, but we are only part way along in this journey of progress and opportunity. Let me be clear. No matter how many elections Republicans win, no matter how many times we hold the White House, no matter how many seats in Congress, the party of Lincoln will not be whole again until more African Americans come back home.

Quoting scripture, Dr. King said "Let justice roll down like the waters and righteousness like a mighty stream." These words remind us that the principles of freedom and equal opportunity for which Dr. King heroically stood endure beyond the life of one man, and must be advanced not just on this day, but every day.
Free at last, free at last! Good God almighty, they are free at last!

Organized Labor & the Gay Agenda - Estranged Bedfellows

There really is nothing to add to the message below from the Family Research Council. FRC President Tony Perkins points out the connection between the liberal social agenda (gay marriage, abortion, etc.) and the complete collapse of America's so-called labor movement:

Looking Away from the Union Labels

Four major unions, The Teamsters, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) and Unite Here, walked out of the AFL-CIO's convention in Chicago. It is anticipated the four disaffected unions, consisting of a total 5 million members, made the move in anticipation of leaving the union federation completely. The move follows years of AFL-CIO involvement in issues that closely tied union members, normally seen as socially conservative, to very liberal causes such as gay marriage and abortion (emphasis added).

Last year, the AFL-CIO came out against the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment that defined marriage as between one man and one woman. Just this last March the union passed a resolution titled "Support for the Full Inclusion & Equal Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender People in the Workplace," which advocated for full marriage rights for homosexuals. Former Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa once said, "I have many faults but being wrong isn't one of them." Until the AFL-CIO realizes its mistakes and turns away from a liberal agenda and back to issues that actually affect workers, they can expect to stagnate and to alienate many Americans.
Enough said.

Democrat Obstructionists - Goin' Fishin

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins shares these thoughts on Democrat Senators and their attempts to smear soon-to-be Justice John Roberts:

Goin' Fishin'

In most of America "going fishing" brings up images of Mayberry's Sheriff Andy Taylor and his son Opie with their fishing poles heading off to Myers Lake. In Washington, D.C. "going fishing" instead conjures up the picture of desperate Democrats looking for anything bad to pin on President Bush's Supreme Court nominee, Judge John Roberts. Yesterday, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) indicated he would demand every internal legal memorandum written by the nominee when he served as deputy solicitor general for past Administrations. The ultimate goal is to find among the horde of memos some little tidbit the left can use against the nominee. This is not the first time the Democrats have tried this strategy. Currently the nomination of John Bolton to become U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations is being held up by a similar strategy. Previously the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the U.S. Court of Appeals was held up by a similar request for documents from the solicitor general's office. In response to this outrageous request for priveleged memos, every living past solicitor general, both Democrat and Republican, wrote the Judiciary Committee warning that "any attempt (referring to document requests) to intrude into the Office's highly privileged deliberations would come at the cost of the Solicitor General's ability to defend the United States' litigation interests." These attempts by Senator Schumer using Barney Fife-type tactics exposing priveleged documents should be quickly nipped in the bud. The signs have been posted: No fishing allowed.
Democrats want to know everything about Judge Roberts so that they can have ammunition to destroy his nomination. We will not let it happen.

Fight them with the truth.

Here we go!

The liberal MSM, as expected, are accelerating their campaign to bring down our president with this so-called scandal over the outing of non-undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame.

The Washington Post actually has the nerve to ask "what did the president know?"

... get ready for more and more talk about the parallels between this story and the Clinton intern scandal -- and of course, Watergate.

We're already hearing some of the prototypical questions being raised. Here's former presidential adviser David Gergen, on ABC's "This Week" yesterday: "What did the president know and when did he know it?"
I'll tell you what the president knows.

He knows that Vice-president Cheney did not send Joe Wilson to Africa as Mr. Wilson claims. For that, he is being crucified, and the liberal MSM are only too happy to help.

We are a nation at war, people. This is not a game. The president needs our suppport, and as patriotic Americans it is our duty to give him that support. The vice-president and Karl Rove are warriors in the War on Terror. They must not be distracted from this important task with all of this nonsense.

Valerie Plame was going to work every day at CIA headquarters. How secret is that?

This so-called scandal is a distraction from the real jobs of our president and his staff. Obstruction of justice?

According to the Los Angeles Times, Mr. Rove and Mr. Libby could be in very big trouble. If there is anything that federal investigators do not like, and tend to punish very harshly, it is lying.

The newspaper reports the Plame Name Game has moved from finding the leaker to punishing two of the highest-ranking officials of the Bush White House for allegedly giving false accounts to the grand jury:

The special prosecutor in the CIA leak investigation has shifted his focus from whether White House officials violated a law against exposing undercover agents to determining whether evidence exists to bring perjury or obstruction of justice charges, according to people briefed in recent days on the inquiry's status.Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor, and his team have made no decision on whether to seek indictments, and there could be benign explanations for differences that have arisen in witnesses' statements to federal agents and a grand jury about how the name of Valerie Plame, a CIA agent who had worked undercover, was leaked to the media two years ago.

The investigation focused initially on whether administration officials illegally leaked the identity of Plame, the wife of former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, in a campaign to discredit Wilson after he wrote an op-ed article in The New York Times criticizing the Bush administration's grounds for going to war in Iraq.
Interesting times.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://rnctalkingpoints.blogspot.com/2005/07/rove-investigtion-perjury-obstruction.html' title='Rove Investigtion: Perjury? Especially if the liberals are the ones thinking it's a good thing too. And, a lot of liberals seem to be way too comfortable with the idea of Judge Roberts becoming Justice Roberts.

From The New Republic:

Given Roberts's dazzling talents--his intelligence, judgment, devotion to legal craft, and palpable belief in the power of reasoned argument to constrain judges in meaningful ways--it seems quite possible that his vision of the force of precedent might evolve and grow during decades on the Court. I don't mean "evolve" in the sense that liberals hope and conservatives fear--that Roberts will become less conservative and more liberal. I mean, instead, that the application of his determined intelligence to the hardest and most elusive questions of constitutional law will lead Roberts to develop a vision of constitutional stability that is uniquely his own.
Of course, the writer of this piece goes out of his way to explain that he doesn't think Roberts will evolve into a liberal, but what if he evolves into a David Souter-style "conservative?"

We would almost be better off with a genuine liberal on the SCOTUS. At least then, we would know what we are dealing with.

The (not so) Great White North

Well, isn't this sweet? Perkins:

Yesterday the Canadian Parliament voted to make Canada the fourth country in the world to allow homosexual "marriage." This reverses the 1999 Parliament vote of 216-55, which reaffirmed the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman. Immediately after that loss homosexual activists turned to the courts and strict "hate crime" laws that punish thought to force Canadian legislators to vote on the issue, while leaving Canadian citizens out in the cold. Over the last few years honest debate on homosexual "marriage" has been stifled by "thought crime" legislation that shut down any opposition to the gay agenda. Even a teacher writing a letter to the editor, as Canadian teacher Brian Kempling did, warranted punishment and suspension under Canada's laws.

Many Canadian people of faith have found themselves silenced, unable to even cite Biblical passages without threat of fines or jail time. This repression, surprising in a nation once known for its openness and freedom, coupled with a barrage of lawsuits in Canadian appellate courts, led the Parliament down the aisle to same-sex "marriage," despite opposition from a large number of citizens. This is only further evidence that the U.S. must protect marriage by passing an amendment to the Constitution. It's time for Congress to act before the courts do.
That's it for marriage, I guess. Why would anyone want to stay married now?

We absolutely need a Federal Marriage Amendment NOW, before divorce becomes just as rampant in the United States as it is in Canada and Sweden and France.

Mr. Justice Roberts

If I had to guess, I'd say this is the reason the MSM have been able to focus back on Mr. Karl Rove so quickly and so intensely after the SCOTUS announcement:

The confirmation process is just beginning, but at this point, there is no reason to expect an ugly personal fight.
